About The Author
Born in Whangarei New Zealand on April 26 1943, Graeme Clarke grew up on a small dairy farm. After qualifying as an
electrician in 1963, he worked his way up through the electrical industry in New Zealand and Australia until 1985. It was at this time that Graeme decided to pursue a
different career and have a break away from the pressures of the construction and contracting industry.
Based in the city of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, Graeme began an entertainment career in various clubs and restaurants around the Hunter Valley district. During
the early years he recorded his first 14-track LP, Graeme Clarke Sings Your Favourites and released a very succesful single, Tender Trap, which climbed to No. 9
on Radio 4KQ Country Top Thirty charts.
Some years later, Graeme sat down in the quite and beautiful surroundings of his North Beach home and wrote a trilogy of books entitled Pacifica and Beyond, documenting
his many travels and colourful experiences.

From The Book
...I had no idea how far up the side of the mountain we were or how far I would have to drive before I could pull over and
assess the situation. There was a long trail of traffic banked up behind us. These were mainly trucks, and they couldn't pass either. I was simply keeping to the left of the
white line and to the left of the headlights as they came toward me out of the gloom.
I had never been so scared in my life.
I thought about the air-conditioned office I had left behind for this little adventure. I wondered if we were ever going to make it over this mountain in one piece? All my
past problems now seemed to pale into insignificance...
